A common misconception is the natural stones used in your home are a maintenance free surface. While tough and durable, they can be damaged from a variety of daily living incidences. Dropping a heavy object can result in damaged stone. It is possible to leave a scratch simply from moving a piece of furniture across the floor. The chairs in your dining room can dull the stone flooring beneath them. The blowing sands of Southern Utah can scratch your floor. Acid sensitive stones can be damaged by food, drinks, beauty products and even your pets if you aren’t vigilant. We have to clean up after contractors all the time that inadvertently damage our clients floors. Even a well meaning cleaning company can cause damage to your floors simply by using the wrong product. The good news is that all of these things can be restored by the experts at Suva Tile.
Restoration Services we Provide:
- Lippage Removal (uneven stones)
- Scratch Removal
- Chip Repairs
- Etch Removal
- Grinding & Polishing to your desired Finish

All floors get dirty with regular usage.
Travertine, Marble and Limestone floors get dirty just like every other type of flooring. Natural stone floors are different from ceramic or porcelain tiles and requires a very different cleaning approach. The majority stone flooring is easily damaged by using the wrong chemical cleaner. With our years of experience we know the ideal way to clean various types of stone floor. We can restore your floor to its original elegance.
Kitchen and bathroom countertops get dirty as well.
Along with removing the hard water and mineral deposits, we sanitize each countertop with high temperature steam. This ensures that not only is the surface free of germs, but it looks great as well.
For those who have porcelain or ceramic tiles, usually the grout lines get dirty long before the surface of the tile does. At Suva Tile we can clean both surfaces all in one go with our unparalleled cleaning process. We always return your home furniture to its original location when the cleaning procedure is finished. Once the floor is clean, we suggest the application of a sealer to keep your floor looking great and make your routine cleanings much less difficult.
Most of the grout used today is porous as is virtually all natural stones. Which means that those surfaces will easily soak up any liquid when they get wet. Water spills are no problem, but how about drink, food, children or pet accidents? All of those fluids can easily cause significant harm. You can’t prevent the joys of life from taking place so the next best thing is to protect these porous surfaces with a sealer application. There are many types of sealers. Sealers can be water or solvent based, penetrating or topical, clear or color enhancing or color changing. There isn’t a single “best sealer” to choose, it all is based on your particular circumstances and preferences. We all inform you of all the various options and help you make the best choice for your home.
- Seal the surface of your stone and bring out more of the natural colors (enhancing penetrating or topical sealer)
- Seal without changing the grout color (clear penetrating sealer)
- Seal and change the color of your grout (color seal)
- Seal the surface of your stone and make it shine (topical sealer)
- Remove a sealer or coating you do not like (stripping)
- Seal the surface of your stone and maintain the natural look (clear penetrating sealer)

Natural stones are distinct in many ways. Odds are the stones in your home are 20 million years old or older. They can be dull without any shine or reflectivity or highly polished to a mirror like finish. Depending on the style of your home and your personal preference, most times the same stone can be altered to your taste. There are a number of ways to put a shine on stone. Here at Suva Tile we prefer the “old school” method of polishing which leaves the longest lasting and most beautiful finish. Our procedure uses a series of diamonds to polish the surface to the desired result. We do not use any chemicals. No dust is produced and we use only diamonds and water.
What can we polish:
- Counter Tops
- Bathroom Vanities
- Tub Surrounds
Suva Tile was launched in 1987 and for the last two decades David Bonasera has been involved with consulting and expert witness. When a contractor incorrectly installs stone or tile a client might benefit from a consultation or expert witness testimony when taking the contractor to court. I use tile and stone Forensics to check moisture, looking to walls, infrared technology, sound testing, deflection, and proper installation of tile and stone according to ANSI, TCNA, and NSI requirements. Dave helps write guidelines for the natural stone industry as part of the technical committee for the NSI, (National Stone Institute).
