No matter how much people hope that natural stone floors were free of maintenance, that simply is not the case. These materials are extremely durable, but even they can be compromised in the normal course of daily living. Dropping a heavy object can result in broken stone. Moving a couch or piece of furniture across the floor can leave a scratch. Your beautiful stone flooring can become lackluster looking simply from the bar stools are your kitchen island. The blowing sands of Southern Utah can scratch your floor. Acid sensitive stones can be damaged by food, drinks, beauty products and even your pets if you aren’t careful. A contractor working in your home can accidentally damage your floor. Even a well meaning cleaning company can cause damage to your floors simply by using the wrong product. Lucky for you Suva Tile are restoration professionals and can address all of these problems.

- Chip Repairs

Even low traffic floors can get dirty under normal circumstances.
Travertine, Marble and Limestone floors can get dirty just like any other flooring type. Natural stone floors are different from ceramic or porcelain tiles and requires a very different cleaning approach. Something as simple as using the wrong chemical cleaner can damage most stone floors. We have the knowledge to recognize the difference, leaving you with a clean floor you can be happy with once again.
Bathroom and kitchen countertops get dirty as well.
We use high temperature steam to sanitize each countertop as well as removing all mineral and hard water deposits. This guarantees the surface not only looks beautiful but is germ free as well!
If you have porcelain or ceramic tiles, in general the grout lines get dirty way before the surface of the tile does. We use a unique cleaning procedure that effectively removes the dirt from from both surfaces. We always return your furniture to its original location when the cleaning process is completed. We usually recommend applying a sealer to keep your floor looking good for longer and make subsequent cleanings much less difficult.
All natural stones and the majority of the grout used today is porous. This means that those surfaces will easily soak up any liquid when they get wet. Now something as basic as a water spill is nothing to fear, but food, drinks or even pet accidents are a different story. All of those liquids can quickly cause serious damage. You can’t stop the joys of life from happening so the next best thing is to shield these porous surfaces with a sealer application. There are many different kinds of sealers. Sealers can be solvent or water based, topical or penetrating, clear or color enhancing or color changing. Your particular circumstances and preferences will help us to determine the best choice of sealer for your situation. We will discuss all the options with you and help you to choose what’s right for your home.
- Seal the surface of your stone and make it shine (topical sealer)
- Seal without changing the grout color (clear penetrating sealer)
- Seal and change the color of your grout (color seal)
- Seal the surface of your stone and maintain the natural look (clear penetrating sealer)
- Remove a sealer or coating you do not like (stripping)
- Seal the surface of your stone and bring out more of the natural colors (enhancing penetrating or topical sealer)

Natural stones are distinctive in numerous ways. The ones in your house are at least 20 million years old. They can polished to a mirror like finish, or they can dull without any shine whatsoever. The beauty is most of the times these stones can altered to match your own personal preference and style. There are several ways to put a shine on stone. Here at Suva Tile we opt for the “old school” method of polishing which leaves the most beautiful and longest lasting finish. This strategy does not use any chemicals to alter the stone, but instead a series of diamonds is used to polish the surface to your desired result. No dust is produced and we use only diamonds and water.
What can we polish:
- Bathroom Vanities
- Tub Surrounds
- Counter Tops
Suva Tile was launched in 1987 and for the last 20 years David Bonasera has been involved with consulting and expert witness. This happens when the customer has a contractor that installs stone or tile and the project takes a turn and there is a problem with the installation such as cracking tiles, yellowing white marble tiles, substrate failures, or a loose floor because of the lack of proper bonding. I use tile and stone Forensics to check moisture, looking to walls, infrared technology, sound testing, deflection, and proper installation of tile and stone according to ANSI, TCNA, and NSI guidelines. Dave helps write practices for the natural stone industry as part of the technical committee for the NSI, (National Stone Institute).
Suva Tile has restored everything from polished marble bird feeders to the restoration of the 15 foot x 127 foot glass mosaic mural located at Dixie State University here in St. George, Utah. If you have an idea lets talk and see if we can make it work.
