A common misconception is the natural stones used in your home are a maintenance free surface. While long lasting and durable, they can be damaged from a variety of daily living occurrences. Dropping a heavy object can result in a cracked stone. Sliding a couch or piece of furniture across the floor can leave a scratch. The bar stools at your kitchen island can dull the stone flooring beneath them. The blowing sands of Southern Utah can scratch your floor. Food, drinks, beauty products and pets can all damage acid sensitive stones. A contractor working in your home can accidentally damage your floor. A cleaning company can use the wrong product and cause damage. The good news is that all of these things can be restored by the experts at Suva Tile.
Restoration Services we Provide:
- Stone & Tile Replacement
- Scratch Removal
- Etch Removal
- Chip Repairs
- Lippage Removal (uneven stones)
- Grinding & Polishing to your desired Finish.
All floors get dirty with normal usage.
If you have natural stone flooring such as Travertine, Marble, or Limestone, those floors get dirty as well. Natural stone flooring is different from ceramic or porcelain tiles and requires a very different approach to cleaning. Most stone flooring is easily damaged by using the wrong chemical cleaner. We have the experience to know the difference, leaving you with a clean floor you can be proud of once again.
Kitchen and bathroom countertops get dirty as well.
In addition to removing the mineral and hard water deposits, we sanitize each countertop with high temperature steam. This makes sure the surface not only looks great but is free of germs as well!
If you have ceramic or porcelain tiles, usually the grout lines get dirty long before the surface of the tile does. We use a unique cleaning process that effectively removes the dirt from from both surfaces. Furniture that needs to be moved and cleaned under gets returned to its original location. Once the floor is clean, we suggest the application of a sealer to keep your floor looking good and make your routine cleanings easier.
All natural stones and most of the grout used today is porous. This means that those surfaces will easily absorb any liquid when they get wet. Water spills are no problem, but what about drink, food, children or pet accidents? All of those fluids can quickly and easily cause serious damage. You can’t stop the joys of life from taking place so the next best thing is to protect these porous surfaces with the application of a sealer. There are many types of sealers. Generally they fall into one of several basic categories: water based or solvent based, penetrating or topical, clear or color enhancing or color changing. There is no single “best sealer” to use, it all depends on your particular circumstances and preferences. We will go over all the options with you and help you choose what’s right for your home.
Sealing Services:
- Seal without changing the grout color (clear penetrating sealer)
- Seal and change the color of your grout (color seal)
- Seal the surface of your stone and maintain the natural look (clear penetrating sealer)
- Seal the surface of your stone and bring out more of the natural colors (enhancing penetrating or topical sealer)
- Seal the surface of your stone and make it shine (topical sealer)
- Remove a sealer or coating you do not like (stripping)
Natural stones are unique in many ways. The ones in your home are at least 20 million years old. They can be dull without any shine or reflectivity or highly polished to a mirror like finish. Depending on the style of your home and your personal preference, most times the same stone can be modified to your liking. There are several ways to put a shine on stone. Here at Suva Tile we prefer the “old school” method of polishing which leaves the longest lasting and most beautiful finish. This process does not use any chemicals to alter the stone, but rather a series of diamonds is used to polish the surface to your desired outcome. No dust is produced and we use only water and diamonds.
What can we polish:
- Counter Tops
- Floors
- Bathroom Vanities
- Tub Surrounds
I started this business in 1987 and for the last 18 years I have been involved with consulting and expert witness. This is when the customer has a contractor that installs stone or tile and the job goes south and there is a problem with the installation whether it be cracking tiles, yellowing white marble tiles, substrate failures, or a loose floor because of the lack of proper bonding. I use tile and stone Forensics to check moisture, looking to walls, infrared technology, sound testing, deflection, and proper installation of tile and stone according to ANSI, TCNA, and NSI standards. I currently sit on the technical committee for the NSI, (National Stone Institute) and help write standards for the natural stone industry.
